Journeys of Being

Birds in flight dissolve into horizon and landscape, carrying the quiet truth that we, too, move through the world in constant transition: belonging everywhere and nowhere, shaped by the places we pass through.

Birds cross the sky in quiet arcs, appearing briefly before dissolving into distance. I encounter them this way on my daily walks, never still, always in motion, reminding me that we, too, move through constant transition. In these paintings, birds travel through imagined landscapes where mountains, water, and sky merge with their bodies. Wings echo the land, forms dissolve into the horizon. These moments reflect how the places we pass through shape us, becoming part of who we are.

Though imagined, these landscapes draw from elements that ground me: mountains, water, forests. Their vastness reminds me of both the scale of the world and our small place within it. Birds hold this same tension, freedom and fragility. They travel great distances while remaining small within the spaces they cross, mirroring our own passage: belonging everywhere and nowhere at once.

Created during a time of settling after years of movement, this series reflects on presence. The birds reminded me that freedom is not tied to place, but to being. Journeys of Being explores movement, transformation, and connection. An invitation to consider how we evolve alongside the landscapes we move through.
